Barhale is a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure specialist with over 40 years’ experience across the water, transport, built environment and energy sectors.

Their latest project with Anglian Water for @one Alliance is a 72-week programme based in Thetford with an estimate project cost of £11 million.

This project aims to add resilience to the local water network, ensuring the residents continue to have a stable water supply as the area increases. Part of the programme of work includes laying a 1.5m diameter pipe under an active railway bridge. To ensure no disruption to the railway, the tunnelling equipment has been placed further back than usual, helping to reduce the amount of vibration going through the lines.

Last year Barhale started to experience issues with their current hire specialist and started to look at alternative partners to support their requirements.

Anglian Water, who actively encourage adoption of new technologies and innovations to drive efficiency and the highest level of quality, were, along with Barhale, excited to hear about the new T900i from McElroy. The T900i fuses two pipe sections in an automated process that is unique and significantly faster than previous methods.

Fusion Utilities, who firmly put the customer first and are renowned for their exceptional service, worked closely with Barhale and Anglian Water to be the very first to use the T900i series in the UK. At a cost of over £1m, the T900i transforms how people work on site, driving safety and efficiency. As Barhale were also familiar with the McElroy Tracstar 500, which Fusion Utilities also offer, they were able to start using this innovation with confidence.

Exceptional Customer Services

We know that, on rare occasion, equipment can break down and previously Barhale were left to resolve the matter themselves. However, one Saturday, when the T900i was unresponsive the Fusion Utilities team had an engineer onsite that day, they identified that it was a flat battery and had the T900i up and running again within 3 hours.

The onsite team were extremely impressed with the service and reaction from the Fusion Utilities team. Dan Brown, Site Supervisor for Barhale, “Service like this is key to big projects, when machines break down, we cannot work, so it’s imperative to have them running again as soon as possible.”

Dan continues, “The equipment is running smoothly, and we have had brilliant service and support from Don (Donovan Caalse) and Gemma (Davies). Also, a huge thank you to Marc the engineer, who has been a key asset to this project. Going above and beyond for the site since the machine has been delivered. It is an absolute pleasure working alongside the team, thank you for a stress-free and reliable service.”

Gemma Davies, Key Account Manager – Fusion Utilities Hire: “I am delighted to be working with Dan and the Barhale team. We look forward to continuing to support them on future projects.”
